It can sometimes happen that the charcoal does not go out properly. There are a number of reasons for this. We list the causes and the solutions in chronological order for you.
First of all, it is a general rule that new kamados are more often more difficult to manage, the white color in the kamado causes it to react a little more restlessly. get more air than kamados that have been used very often. The more often you use a kamado, the better it will work.
- The marginal disc is not or not well embedded. Smoke escapes between the two cast iron halves, drawing in oxygen.
Solution: use more often so that a natural coating forms that seals the top controller better, or Bake-in margin disc. - The screw in the magrite disk is loose. Solution: open the lid, and tighten the screw from the bottom.
- The lower ventilation slider is not closed properly. Solution better push it closed, or do not remove all the ash lying against the slider.
- Your kamado is too clean. Always leave a little ash in the kamado, this helps the kamado work better. So you don’t have to clean it completely inside with a vacuum cleaner every time.
- Little to no maintenance has been done causing bolts to loosen and the lid to gape, this also allows oxygen back to the charcoal causing the coals to continue to smolder.
Solution: readjust lid.
