I Can’t Connect the Controller to My Wi-Fi<\/h3>
  1. Download the latest version<\/strong> of the Smarter Grill app from the Play Store (Android)<\/strong><\/a> or App Store (Apple)<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled<\/strong> on your phone or tablet.<\/li>
  3. Allow all permissions<\/strong> during app installation.<\/li>
  4. Create an account<\/strong> with a username and password (minimum 8 characters).<\/li>
  5. Connect to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network<\/strong> (5 GHz is not supported).<\/li>
  6. Make sure the BBQ is just connected to power<\/strong> \u2013 the controller is only discoverable for 2 minutes<\/strong> for connection. In doubt? Unplug it and plug it back in. <\/li>
  7. Check if your router’s Wi-Fi password is a maximum of 12 characters<\/strong> long.<\/li>
  8. Keep your phone or tablet within 30 cm of the controller<\/strong>. Wait until \u201cConnect\u201d turns red at the bottom of the display, then press \u201cConnect\u201d. <\/li><\/ol>

    How Do I Properly Turn off the Pellet BBQ?<\/h3>
    • Always use the on\/off button<\/strong> on the controller.<\/li>
    • Never just pull the plug!<\/strong> This prevents damage and allows the BBQ to cool down properly via the shutdown function<\/strong>.<\/li>
    • Leave the lid open<\/strong> until the fan stops automatically.<\/li><\/ul>

      How Do I Properly Start the Pellet BBQ?<\/h3>

      The Eastwood<\/strong> and Goliath<\/strong> models are very well insulated due to their double wall. As a result, the temperature during startup can rise higher than you set<\/strong>. <\/p>

      Here’s how to Do it Right:<\/h3>
      • First, set a lower temperature<\/strong> than your target temperature.
        For example: if you want to reach 150\u00b0C<\/strong>? First set 120\u00b0C<\/strong>. When the BBQ is around that temperature, then increase to 150\u00b0C.
        Do you want to reach 300\u00b0C<\/strong>? Start with 200\u00b0C<\/strong>, then to 250\u00b0C<\/strong>, and then to 300\u00b0C. <\/li><\/ul>

        Startup Process:<\/h4>
        1. The glow plug remains on for the first 6 minutes<\/strong>.<\/li>
        2. The BBQ feeds enough pellets to create a stable fire.<\/li>
        3. After that, it automatically switches to the temperature you set.<\/li><\/ol>

          Smoke is Coming from the Hopper. What should I Do? <\/h3>

          Don’t panic!<\/strong> There is no fire. A few pellets are likely smoldering at the end of the feed tube, causing smoke to rise towards the hopper. <\/p>

          This Can be Caused by:<\/h4>
          • A dirty burn pot<\/strong>.<\/li>
          • The BBQ was turned off without leaving the lid open<\/strong>, especially after high-temperature use.<\/li><\/ul>

            What You Can Do:<\/h4>
            1. Turn on the BBQ to 150\u00b0C<\/strong>.<\/li>
            2. Leave the lid open<\/strong>.<\/li>
            3. The BBQ feeds pellets and transports the smoldering remains to the burn pot.<\/li>
            4. Wait about 10 minutes<\/strong> (the longer the smoke was present, the longer this will take).<\/li>
            5. Once the smoke is gone:
              • Turn off the BBQ (keep the lid open), or<\/strong><\/li>
              • Set the desired temperature again and close the lid.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>

                What is Eco Mode? (Only Available on the Wi-Fi Controller)<\/em><\/h3>

                Eco Mode is a unique, quiet, and economical mode<\/strong> that automatically activates when you set the temperature below 110\u00b0C<\/strong> (from 6 minutes after switching on).<\/p>

                What Does Eco Mode Do?<\/h4>
                • The fan runs quieter<\/strong>.<\/li>
                • The pellet feed is reduced<\/strong>.<\/li>
                • You’ll barely hear any noise, unlike other brands where the fan constantly changes speed.<\/li>
                • You get a constant, gentle smoke<\/strong> \u2013 ideal for low & slow cooking.<\/li><\/ul>

                  Why is it Important to Clean the Burn Pot?<\/h3>

                  Many startup problems occur because the burn pot is full of ash<\/strong>. Then the pellets can no longer properly reach the glow plug. <\/p>

                  What Happens then?<\/h4>
                  1. The glow plug heats up, but the pellets don’t ignite.<\/li>
                  2. More and more pellets accumulate.<\/li>
                  3. Eventually, they start to smolder, causing a lot of smoke.<\/li>
                  4. Due to the built-up smoke gases, a flashback<\/strong> can suddenly occur, causing the lid to pop open.<\/li><\/ol>

                    What should You Do?<\/h4>

                    \u2705 Always check if the burn pot is empty before lighting.<\/strong>
                    \u2705 Does startup take longer than usual and is there a lot of smoke?
