Smoking Wood Pastilles - Walnut/Hickory - Best Charcoal
- Bold, hearty smoke with a nutty edge
- Made for pulled pork, ribs and beef
- 1 kg bag, pressed wood that burns slowly
Hickory is the wood American barbecue runs on, and Best Charcoal presses it together with walnut into pastilles you place straight on the coals. The result is the heaviest smoke in this range: full, savoury, with a nutty undertone. At Nomad Fire this is the choice for meat that sits at the fire for hours, not for a quick session.
Where this wood does its work
Pulled pork, spare ribs, brisket and thick cuts of beef on the kamado have enough fat and time to take on this smoke. With fish, chicken or vegetables it quickly becomes too dominant.
- Pressed wood, burns through gradually
- Two to three pieces among the coals is enough
- 1 kg bag
Going for low and slow cooking, spread the pastilles through the charcoal so they catch one after another. Find more flavours at smoking pastilles, and for shorter sessions at smoking wood chunks.
