One piece of cast iron, two functions: with the flat side up you have a generous 44cm griddle where onions, bacon, shrimp, pancakes or a whole load of vegetables fit at once. Flip it over and you have a fire bowl to burn wood or charcoal in, for example when the group stays outside around the fire after eating.
Why cast iron works here
The plate takes some time to come up to temperature, but holds that heat afterwards. Place a cold piece of meat on it and the temperature barely drops, giving you a good crust instead of stewed meat, just as usable next to your kamado bbq as freestanding over a wood fire.

Use and care
Let the plate warm up gently over moderate heat and grease it lightly before you start. Do not work with a full load of ingredients all at once, otherwise the surface cools down and you end up steaming instead of frying. As a fire bowl, place it on a heat-resistant, flat surface, never directly on a wooden deck. Clean it while the plate is still warm: hot water, a brush and dry immediately, followed by a thin layer of oil. Find more of this material at bbq cast iron.
