Smoking Wood Pastilles de Aroma - Thyme - Best Charcoal
- Fine herbal smoke, recognisable but never overpowering
- Smoulders calmly on glowing charcoal
- 1 kilo bag, one or two pieces per session
Making fire is never the problem with a kamado, keeping it subtle is. These thyme smoking pastilles from Best Charcoal are good at that: you place a block on the glowing coals and get a herby smoke layer that supports your dish instead of taking it over. At Nomad Fire this is the wood you reach for with lamb, chicken and roasted vegetables, not with a batch of beef that needs hours.
Which fire this suits
It works best on the kamado: closed lid, even heat, and enough time for the smoke to settle without burning. You can also place a pastille among the coals on a lidded table bbq or a charcoal grill once they're glowing well.
- Pressed wood, so it smoulders instead of burning through immediately
- One or two pieces per session is enough
- 1 kilo bag
Want more depth, add a piece of oak. See the rest of the range at smoking pastilles or, for shorter sessions, at smoking wood chips.
